Plague Days, Vol. 2

Brendan T Steere This is such a triumphant evolution for Oblio. It marries their sardonic, sharply observant songwriting with what their secret weapon has always been: the ability to write a fuckin BANGER. I think it's their best to date. Favorite track: Early To Rise.

ANOTHER NOTHING DAY Staring at the back burner; another nothing day. I had a song in my heart, but it faded away… faded away. And you keep talking. I have nothing to say-to say-to say. The hours laugh at me as they go on their way. I hear them say: I can’t try to get things done, and tell you once: that “I don't ever want you to leave my side.” It’s all I can do, to sit and wait, as the day grows late. Another nothing day goes bye… (Day goes bye. Day goes bye.) Bye. Staring at the ceiling fan; another nothing day. I had you wrong in my heart, and you flew away... you flew away. You kept talking to me, like I had nothing to say-to say-to say. Seconds laugh at me as they go on their way, I hear them say: I can’t try to get things done, and tell you once: that “I don't ever want you to leave my side.” It’s all I can do, to sit and wait, as the day grows late. Another nothing day goes bye… (Day goes bye. Day goes bye.) Bye. I can’t try to get things done, and tell you once: that “I don't ever want you to leave my side.” It’s all I can do, to sit and wait, as the day grows late. Another nothing day goes bye… (Day goes bye. Day goes bye.) Bye.

I Do Care 03:57
I DO CARE I offered a word and… some notes as a song, and… You didn’t really dig it. No nodding your head then. I took that as gospel, strait from you, the punk apostle. I am aiming to please, but God, this feeling is awful. What do you want? What do you need? Tell me. I’ll write you anything you want, ok? (I don’t care.) All I know is… (I don’t care.) All I know is… I just don’t want to let you down. If I tangled my proses with interlaced enchantments, just so you would say: “Hey… that was poetic”, Well, Is that pathetic? Sue me, dude. I’m all but glued to my delusions. Without them, I feel useless. What do you want? WHAT DO YOU WANT?! Tell me now. I can bow extremely low to the ground. To the dirt. (I don’t care.) All I know is… (I don’t care.) All I know is… I just don’t want to let you down. I guess I care a little. There goes my scene cred. You got me there. Stop the recording. I don’t want to let you down. I don’t want to let you down. I don’t want to let you down again.

EARLY TO RISE She’s beautiful. Makeup slathered on. The light reveals the joys of silicone. The hips, the lips, the fragrance lingers on. I’m wrong and you’re a happy person. Surely… Surely… This is why I wake up early… See the world in the light of day. Know that everything stays this way. Bring to light all the sickness in our eyes… I'm early to bed, and always… Early to rise! Early to rise! His faster car streaked my empty sky. And left behind a trail of semen, tears, …and broken lines. The girls are fishing- I fall behind tangled in the hooks. Surely… Surely… This is why I wake up early… See the world in the light of day. Know that everything stays this way. Bring to light all the sickness in our eyes… I'm early to bed, and always… Early to rise! Early to rise! This is what can make you happy. This is what can make you happy. This is what can take your daddy. This is how you lose your mom. See the world in the light of day. Know that everything stays this way. Bring to light all the sickness in our eyes… I'm early to bed, and always… Early to rise! Early to rise!

Promise 02:49
PROMISE I once saw you, old, in a dream. With your gray hair; smiling. You're beautiful in your old age. I hope I'm here at every stage. You’ll be loved then. Don't be afraid. I could promise you… I could promise you… I could promise you… No matter what you lose… I know it's hard to see it through; The body’s age, dissolving you. I pray the hours were better spent… If nothing else, in covenant. You’ll be loved then. Don't be afraid. I could promise you… I could promise you… I could promise you… No matter what you lose, You'll be loved then. Don't be afraid. (x4)

about

We promised to deliver another "Plague Days" installment, and here it is! Unlike the first Plague Days EP, these songs are less conceptually "quarantine themed", but no less intentional… Hope these songs fit somewhere in your favorite bummer bangers workout playlist. Thank you, thank you, and a million times more: thank you, to ALL of you who supported the first EP's release and gave us such tremendous encouragement. We wouldn't have bothered creating a "Volume 2" if not for your enthusiasm. This one's for you.
