Perfection

about

Ok... BIG Throwback time.
.
.
Would you believe me if I told you that the majority of this song was written and recorded in 2010? Yep. Ten years ago.
.
.
The story goes like this: Blake & Alex used to be in a folk-rock band called "Dead Ball Era" together throughout jr. high & high school... Around that same time, Blake started flying out to Boston, MA in the summers to record and perform music with his cousins Free Hallas & Jesse Russell in a new band they'd dubbed "Pawns For Kings" (or PFK for short). This band lasted a while, and recorded about an album's worth of material which was never fully released...
.
.
HOWEVER: We are now releasing this song "Perfection", which we originally recorded as PFK over 10 years ago, featuring some luscious NEW 2020 production-polish from Alex Strahle (hear that spacey synth outro, etc) to cap off this old tune, and make it relevant for oblio's present-day catalogue. We're doing it Igor! IT'S ALIIIIVE!!! Huge thanks & love to our lifelong bro Jesse Russell for making this music with us. Happy to get some of it finally released to the world.

lyrics

PERFECTION by Blake Russell, Free Hallas, Jesse Russell, & Alex Strahle

Bound by the dust, and she can't leave this cage.
Torn from all lust, she wouldn't think to betray, no.
Immune to imperfection, she sits on the gates, yeah.
Accepted by rejectors, she's a social saint, yeah.

...and I believe... in her...
Connection.

Outstanding, she's outspoken, she knows how to talk to me.
Flourishing and flowering, she'll make a lazy man walk
a hundred miles.
Pure as a mountain spring, her smile cleanses everything.
Humble so as not to show, a voice so pure it melts the sky,
When she sings… mmm to me.

...and I believe... in her...
Correction.
All my sins. All my sins.

Her eyes are the torch-lights; you cannot hide your broken soul.
When you burn too deep, she pulls you out of the coals.

...and I believe in her.
I believe in her.
I believe in her.
