Hey guys. So, we made a song again...
.
.
This one is VERY different for us, musically and conceptually... Where the last song was an attempt at just embracing speed, and putting something out for you quickly and in as relevant a way as possible (regardless of imperfection), this track was much more of an exploration. Mashing together a love for vintage recordings and wrecking crew vibes with modern synth pop is not something our band (publicly labeled an "emo" band) often does... but we wanted to do something different for you!
.
.
As for the concept, that's a little less of a mystery. We're all feeling pretty stir-crazy right now, and this is a concept-song split into 3 different short stories about 3 different characters, all feeling stir-crazy for their own reasons. Enjoy!
.
.
I hope it feels like "a vacation in the tropics" to your eardrums, or something along those lines...

SO, I TALKED TO MYSELF AGAIN... by oblio
Part 1
When I woke up alone, I met a new man.
Stare at myself, and ask how the weather has been.
I have to learn how to like the one I’m stuck here with,
I guess it’s something I’m not used to yet.
Since she left me, and I got locked in.
All I do is brood about…
What it could’ve been. How it should’ve been.
And I need to figure this out...
So I talk to myself again. Talk to myself again,
And again, and again, and I gain nothing…
Part 2
I saw a neighbor looking inside waving and then,
I realized I left the blinds wide open again.
I shut them. I’m stocked up.
The shadows that dance in the cave are made up.
I don’t care. I am prepped for the end of the world.
In the mirror things are clearer,
You can’t hear the world at all.
Every store near here is cleared out,
We won’t last until the fall.
But I can talk to myself again. Talk to myself again,
Hoping then, at the end, maybe I’ll be my own friend.
Part 3
Ive been in quarantine for years; I’m a pro...
But there are bugs that follow you wherever you go.
There used to be a reason to keep my own company,
But now it's me, and my friends, and their friends, and their family, and the rest of the world, in here with me.
It just keeps getting louder,
And I can’t hear myself think.
And I know I’ll lose my marbles,
It wouldn’t be so bad on the brink,
If I could hear myself think again. Hear myself think again.
For a feeling, or a sign, or a minute’s peace of mind…
I talked to myself again. I talk to myself again,
And again, And again, And I gain nothing…
Blake’s spooky indie-folk project he does with his wife Jesica. Features all the members of oblio on most of the songs, so it’s kind of like an oblio side-project, too! Very moody and vibey. oblio
Free Parking! is a punk band we love dearly... so much so that we produced and recorded their album "Fanfiction" for 'em. It's a killer album, & their other records are equally killer. Check it! oblio
Blake & Alex (of oblio) started this LA folk-rock band a few years before oblio was formed. They were very young, but there's a few gems. It's a good next-step for oblio super-fans who want more. oblio
